Dour was his first novel, which was published in Desh in 1976. He was professionally involved with the principal publishing corporation called Ananda Bazar Prakashana. He received his graduation degree in Bengali from Scottish Church College, Kolkata and his Masters degree from Calcutta University respectively. He obtained his elementary education in Jalpaiguri District School.
His childhood years were spent in the tea gardens of Duars. Samaresh Majumdar was born on 10th March 1942. He is well know as creator of "Arjun" Character. Samaresh Majumdar is popular Indian Bengali writer.
